Appliance Energy Cost Calculator
Estimate an appliance’s electricity use, running cost, and operational climate impact from the way you actually use it.

Choose an appliance preset
Each preset fills the power and usage fields. Treat it as an editable starting point—not a claim about your exact appliance.

How the estimate works
One energy estimate, two downstream results.
Annual kWh × tariffestimated running cost
Annual kWh × grid factoroperational emissions
Accuracy & boundaries
Use measured energy when you can.
The arithmetic is simple; the quality of the inputs determines the quality of the result.
Watts and cycling
A nameplate usually shows maximum power. Refrigerators, air conditioners, heat pumps, water heaters, and ovens cycle. Enter effective active hours or, preferably, use an EnergyGuide label or suitable meter. Plug-in meters are not suitable for hardwired high-voltage loads; use appropriate circuit monitoring or a qualified professional.
Tariff boundary
This model applies one flat energy price. It excludes fixed charges, minimum bills, demand charges, taxes, tiers, and time-of-use rates.
Emissions boundary
Use an annual-average, location-based COâ‚‚e factor for electricity consumed. The result excludes appliance manufacture, refrigerant leakage, maintenance, and disposal.

Preset values are transparent illustrative scenarios, not efficiency benchmarks or population averages. Replace them with the label, specification, EnergyGuide annual kWh, or measured consumption of your device.
Default local assumptions are editable examples. The USD 0.080048/kWh starting tariff preserves the IDR 1,444.70/kWh Indonesian example using the ECB reference rate dated 13 July 2026; later currency changes use the latest server-cached ECB snapshot. The 774 g CO₂e/kWh default is based on PLN’s 2024 climate-related disclosure. Check your bill and a grid factor matching your location, year, accounting boundary, and whether it includes transmission losses. Results are estimates, not utility bills or formal greenhouse-gas inventories.
